Pan-Disability Team Celebrate 12 Months

Stalybridge Celtic Juniors pan-disability team are celebrating 12 months since the team began.

In October 2017 four volunteer coaches, John, Mike, Liam and Eddie, from the club decided to take the FA Coaching Disabled Footballers course. The course covered a range of different disabilities and gave the coaches the confidence to launch a weekly practice for players who might struggle in the existing Soccer School or teams.

After launching, a regular group of players began attending and the group now has 12 players training every week. The team also play once a month in the Cheshire FA Ability Counts Festival and the volunteer coaching team have been joined by Chloe. The relaxed festival of football puts the team against other pan-disability teams from across the North West and the boys have really risen to the challenge!

The team are sponsored by Tameside and Albion Mill Carpets, meaning they always look their best in the Celtic blue and white stripes on matchdays and at training in matching kits.

November 2018 marks 12 months since the first session took place. To celebrate a year of the pan-disability team, and with Christmas on the horizon, a special trip has been arranged for the whole team to attend Sky High Adventure at Active Medlock.
