Working with renowned Manchester street artist kELzO, Stalybridge Celtic Juniors have unveiled a graffiti mural at their Soccer School base on Mossley Road.
The piece, titled ‘A Celebration of Celtic Juniors’, has covered what was previously a plain blue former shipping container used to store equipment. Facing the pitches used every Saturday for the club’s Soccer School which attracts upwards of 100 boys & girls, and throughout the week during summer months for the majority of the club’s thirty teams for training, the piece features a group of players in the famous blue and white stripes of Stalybridge Celtic Juniors.
Stalybridge Celtic Juniors Club Welfare Officer Nic Jackson, who managed the project, said ‘I couldn’t be more delighted with the finished piece. The mural is a perfect reflection of where the community club is today and our junior players who come from all backgrounds and are of all abilities.’
The completion of the mural is a perfect end to the year for the volunteer-run club, which is now bigger than ever before in its 40+ year history with 30 teams, added to in 2018 with the formation of two girls and two under 7s teams, plus their successful Saturday Soccer School.
