Stalybridge Celtic Juniors Pan-Disability team are in need of a sponsor. The team, formed two years ago, was created for children with different disabilities who would otherwise find it very difficult to play for a mainstream team.
It is the only team of its kind in the area for primary school aged children and currently has 12 boys training every week. The team is run by qualified volunteers and the benefits to the children have been fantastic. Not only have the players picked up new skills and improved their football, but they have formed new friendships and gained social skills away from the school environment, and learned how to have fun win or lose, rain or shine.
‘I can’t speak highly enough of the Stalybridge Celtic Juniors pan-disability team. The inclusive, caring ethos is at the very heart of everything the dedicated coaches and parent volunteers do. This club opens up a whole array of opportunities that don’t otherwise exist for primary school aged children with additional needs, as children with both physical and hidden disabilities struggle to access out of school activities. The benefits to social skills and forming new friendships open up lines of communication for parents/carers also.
My 7 year old son is a changed boy for having joined back in May this year. The difference in his social outlook and emotional development has been noticed by his headteacher. Praise where praise is due, and the pan-disability team coaches and volunteer parents thoroughly deserve this.’
Shirley Murray, parent of pan-disability team player
The team need a sponsor to help pay towards the cost of kit, pitch hire and equipment. The lucky company or organisation will have their logo printed on the team’s kit as main sponsor and will be given a framed shirt and photos to celebrate their support of this vital local community team, which provides football for kids who otherwise wouldn’t have the opportunity to play.
