Celtic Juniors Shortlisted for Club of the Year

Stalybridge Celtic Juniors have been shortlisted for Club of the Year in the 2019 Pride of Tameside Sports Awards.

This is a big achievement for the volunteer run club, which over the last twelve months has gone from strength to strength.

Club chairman Mike Taylor said at the awards ceremony at Dukinfield Town Hall ‘I’m pleased to see the club shortlisted tonight. The commitment, expertise and hard work of our 80 volunteers, who do everything from coaching, cutting the grass and running the tuck shop, combines to create a fantastic family environment and a club which is run to professional standards behind the scenes, for kids of all abilities and backgrounds. Stalybridge Celtic Juniors is a truly grassroots football club and we will continue to grow in size and positive reputation in the years to come. Congratulations from us all to Hyde Running Community who won the award this year for their fantastic work.’

The club was given shortlisted for its commitment to creating opportunities to play for children who would otherwise have fewer chances to play football, such as their girls and pan disability teams, and for making playing football as affordable as possible for players in their 29 teams and those who attend the Saturday Soccer School drop in.

Their army of volunteers will once again be out, rain or shine, this weekend making sure local kids are playing football in the best possible environment.
