Fun, fast-paced and exciting! The game of Fustal in the UK is growing. Stalybridge Celtic Juniors under 12s first forey into competition Futsal happened on Saturday 23rd November in the form of the FA Qualifiers in the U’12’s category.
Up against an elite selection of Futsal clubs vying to represent Cheshire County FA in the regional Championships, Stalybridge came up against Warrington Futsal in the first of three intense encounters. Unselfish play and intelligent movement surprised both the spectators and teams!
Next up was the current holders who were victorious at St George’s Park in 2018 – Tranmere Rovers. A nervy game where Celtic edged in victory. A full house ensued in the final game against Cheshire Futsal. Fluid constant movement and at times mesmerising play led the organisers to commend the boys as ‘simply outstanding’.
They have won the right to represent Cheshire FA in the next stage of the competition in February, a fantastic accolade for Stalybridge Celtic Juniors.
The futsal squad was just a selection of the current under 12s, a squad flying high this season who are into the semi-finals of the Martyn Hett Trophy, the final 16 of the Manchester County Cup and are topping their league.
