Former Celtic Junior Earns Man Utd Scholarship

Former Stalybridge Celtic Juniors player Rhys Bennett has earned a two year scholarship at Manchester United.

Central defender Rhys, now 16, played for Celtic Juniors from under 7s to under 9s (playing a year up) before joining the youth set up at Man Utd. His highlights so far have included scoring in the under 15s Manchester Derby, playing up with the under 18s squad and tours of Northern Ireland and Hong Kong.

Celtic Juniors volunteer Garry Pearce said ‘Rhys was a really talented player whilst at Stalybridge Celtic Juniors, it’s wonderful to see his hard work and dedication result in him earning his scholarship at Man Utd. Him and his Dad still call into the Soccer School from time to time and it’s great to catch up with them both. All of us at the club wish him the best of luck on his journey. ‘
