Next Generation Coaches Developing Their Skills

The next generation of Stalybridge Celtic Juniors coaches are striding ahead.

Young coaches, all under 21, have spent twelve months volunteering alongside more experienced coaches at the Soccer School and with Celtic Juniors mini soccer teams. Some are new to the club, whilst others currently play for older Celtic Juniors teams and first volunteered as part of the Duke of Edinburgh award.

Over the course of the last year, they have all grown in confidence hugely and are continually improving the skills they need to work with young players.

Stalybridge Celtic Juniors chairman Mike Taylor said ‘Seeing young people volunteer to help players younger than themselves is brilliant. There are so many distractions for teenagers today but this group have gone from strength to strength. I’ve seen their confidence, teamwork and understanding of coaching grow so much. They are now able to deliver practices themselves whilst their coach mentors watch on.’

The first Soccer School of 2020 is this coming Saturday, 1 February, after the club’s winter break. The drop-in session runs 10:30-12 and costs £3.50 per week.
