Stalybridge Celtic Juniors Saturday Soccer School returned last month and has been more popular than ever. Since re-opening at the start of April, the Soccer School has seen between 90 and 130 young footballers every week. One weekend even saw snowfall which still didn’t put anyone off!
In the five weeks from 3 April to 1 May the Soccer School has seen a combined total of 550 attendees, made possible thanks to 25 people giving over 300 hours of volunteering time on the pitch, in the clubhouse, and behind the scenes.
Club chairman Mike Taylor said ‘The Soccer School has always been popular with children and their families but the numbers we’ve seen since reopening are up there with attendances we only see during a World Cup year at the height of summer, where interest in the game is at its peak.

It’s great to have so many kids coming to play and a credit to all the club’s volunteers that our reputation for fun, safe, quality grassroots football has continued to grow and grow. Seeing so many kids loving playing and coming back week after week has really reignited my passion for the game after such a challenging last twelve months.’
Stalybridge Celtic Juniors Soccer School takes place every Saturday from the club’s base on Mossley Road and is open to children from age 4 to 12. Each school year has its own group and training costs just £3.50 per week. You can find out more information and register at stalybridgecelticjuniors.co.uk
