After three years away our walking football festival is back! Join us at the Soccer School on Saturday 9 July from 2:30pm. The BBQ will be fired up, the sweet shop will be open and it’s BYOB. Watch all the action as mixed teams with players from 18 to 80+ battle it out for the title!
This year’s festival will raise money for Stalybridge War Memorial.

Why Walking Football?
Walking football is an excellent way of staying fit and healthy. Studies have shown it can be effective in the treatment of mild to moderate hypertension. It can produce high aerobic activity with marked improvements in fat oxidation and aerobic power. There are also substantial mental health benefits.
Submit your team now. All teams are mixed men & women, 5 a side and open age with no upper limit. £40 per team. Contact Garry Pearce on 07970 197492
Stalybridge War Memorial Extension Appeal
Every Remembrance Day, we commit that “We will remember them”. No-one should lose their life in service to their country and not be given that honour. Yet in Stalybridge, more than 300 late local service personnel are missing from our beautiful war memorial on Trinity Street.
The plan is to extend the memorial in a sympathetic style to the existing memorial with new plaques. The new memorial will hopefully also have provision for the names of victims of more recent conflicts.
We need to raise a further £150,000 to make this happen, and ensure future generations are able to commemorate Stalybridge’s fallen friends forever. A gift of any size from individuals, businesses or community groups would be greatly appreciated.
At the going down of the sun, and in the morning, we will remember them.
